4 Carpet Cleaning Myths Debunked

There are a lot of myths and misconceptions surrounding carpet cleaning.  In this blog post “4 Carpet Cleaning Myths Debunked,” we will share with you the real truth!

Myth #1:  Carpet Cleaning is Only Necessary When I Can Actually See Dirt and Debris on My Carpeting.

It may seem logical that if you don’t see dirt and debris, your carpet is clean.  This is false!  What you don’t see may make you and your family sick.  Hiding in the fibers of your carpet may be viruses, mold, mildew, dust mites, and the list goes on.  To help combat these things, we recommend giving your carpeting a deep clean minimally every 6 months.

Myth #2:  We Just Laid New Carpeting – Shouldn’t We Wait a Couple of Years Before We Do A Deep Clean?

New carpeting may take a little longer to show dirt and debris but that doesn’t mean it isn’t there.  When you choose to wait to deep clean your carpeting, you may be causing damage to the fibers causing the carpeting to wear out faster.  Here’s why…debris can become embedded deep in the fibers of the carpet.  When the carpet is walked on, the friction of the debris in the carpet can cause wear and tear causing it to look older and worn out faster than it should.  Getting ahead of the debris through deep cleaning can keep your carpet looking newer for longer.

Myth #3:  Won’t Deep Cleaning Shrink My Carpeting?

When done properly by a professional, deep cleaning will not cause your carpeting to shrink.  This usually occurs when carpeting is left too wet or the wrong type of treatment is used on carpeting.

Myth #4:  Grocery Store Rental Units or Store-Bought Machines Are Just As Good As A Professional.

Rental machines and store bought units are no comparison to the units, technology, and cleaning solutions used by professional carpet cleaners.  Typically, the machines designed for household use do not have strong the same amount of suction power the professional units have which results in residue being left behind.
